after being bathed in the light of the sun

…as she indulged a bit…

borrowing the light from the sky of day

a new moon was born into the the earth.

women let us remember our deep connection to the moon

together our cycles ebb and flow

rooting us into the earth

allowing us to birth new life into being

offering generous, welcoming,  gentle, & healing light to the cosmos.

 playing with this notion of

balance

trees continue to be powerful metaphors

teachers

who know the vitality of rootedness

and what are roots

but that which allows the tapping into life

into that which sustains

into the grace that lies beneath

allowing branches to strengthen

to endure the cold of winters

to bloom graciously in the springs

to flourish in the radiant summers

to surrender in the falls

of life

dynamic

is this being rooted

and it does not seem to have a destination

but rather seasons

zafu and zabuton

we just returned from vermont…it was so nice to get away…and it is so nice to be home

thought i would post a fun project that (even with my emerging sewing skills) came together nicely and was well received by justin for endless hours of meditation to come.

photo-127i have been getting creative with the mac camera (as my camera broke) and i really miss capturing images…i have a camera coming my way for christmas that has not yet arrived which i am very excited about

jeremiah placed this mr. and mrs. claus on the window sill and they spectated my project making

this post is very thorough about the process and was very helpful…

i use buckwheat hulls for the zabuton as well which seemed to have done the trick.

jeremiah tested the combo out for papa and thought it would do the trick.

a comfy seat indeed.

make some apple prints…

trim apple to core and cut core in half

stamp in preferred paint colors

jeremiah thought it would be a good idea to staple the layers of paper instead of glueing…which i thought was very clever (and time saving)

leaves are changing

there is something peacefully powerful about this season…with the brilliant external changing of the leaves. i have also found such power in consciously tapping into the reality of seasons in my own life, allowing the trees to inform the unfolding.

trees have always been great metaphors along my way…great teachers.  i remember years ago sitting beneath the changing trees and gleaning such wisdom being in their midst in that moment…they did not seem to have to work hard to adjust to that season of rapid change…

there is ”work” throughout the changes of season: as whole systems work together and at times even appear to manifest “conflict”… but there is also a “rooted” trust in the unfolding and good order of the universe…some do cling to their leaves longer than others but seemingly maintain a posture of trust…as if the species seeks to survive, trust seems mandatory…there seems little option but to be present to what is.

thankful for waking up to art work like this…

on the mornings that jeremiah gets right to work with his creating…

like this morning when he arrived at our bedside and said “mom look what i made”!

thankful for inventing…

and for the creations that may result, such as “a flinger”

for seeing potential in a small plastic spoon and ping pong ball.

for daring to vision

for daring to risk

for having the courage to fail

and for the amazing opportunity to co-create…

“It is our duty – as men and women – to behave as though limits to our ability do not exist. We are collaborators in creation of the Universe.”

thankful for thinking outside of the “bag”

jeremiah’s birthday party is on sunday…a rocket/moon/space theme of coarse…

so…we had a home day on friday and had lots of creating and preparation time…i had “spaced” the goodie bag detail…being that we did not have the option to go out (as the car is in the shop…) we had to get creative with what we had on hand (which by the way is generally how i most like to create…as is true with my card making..reusing grocery bags/pictures/papers/pieces of cards received)…

so jeremiah picked out the most “moonish” fabric in my box of fabrics and i sewed simple bags to be used and filled…

we wrapped up some “alien popcorn” (aka: pirate booty) and jeremiah choose two different astronauts for each friend out of a space kit he was given that had a very generous number of plastic space explorers included.

we also made no bake cookies (jeremiah’s favorite) and wrapped them individually and labeled them “crater cookie”:

NO BAKE CHOCOLATE OATMEAL COOKIES

1 stick butter
1/4 c. cocoa
1/2 c. rice milk
1 1/4 c. sugar
1 tbsp. vanilla
1/2 c. almond butter
3 c. oats

Boil butter, cocoa, milk, sugar, vanilla and almond butter for 1 minute. Add oats and mix well. Spoon out onto wax paper.

lastly we painted moon rocks…which we have talked about hiding and creating a treasure hunt (on the moon) for his friends across the street at the sand pit, where we will launch a few (really cool) rockets on the big day.

thankful for music and how it colors my days.

we had a dance party in our living room last night…i really do love dancing.

blessed by brett dennen (mentioned and accessed here) is definitely among one of my favorites these days:

i welcome the sun
the clouds and rain
the wind that sweeps the sky clean and lets the sun shine again
this is the most magnificent life has ever been
here is heaven and earth and the brilliant sky in between

blessed is this life and I’m gonna celebrate being alive
blessed is this life and I’m gonna celebrate being alive

blessed is this life oh, and I’m gonna celebrate being alive
blessed is this life oh, and I’m gonna celebrate being alive

i dwell in the darkness
i let in the light
i sleep in the afternoon and become the noise in the night
i trespass in temptation suffer in sacrifice
but I awake each day with the new sunrise

blessed is this life oh, and I’m gonna celebrate being alive
blessed is this life oh, and I’m gonna celebrate being alive
blessed is this life oh, and I’m gonna celebrate being alive
blessed is this life oh, and I’m gonna celebrate being alive

i am also continuing this self-portrait venture…an experiment in wecoming the unfolding…

already it has proven to be a teacher…likening it to the experience a fish may have (observing in a new way the context in which it has been living and breathing for a lifetime)…

so here’s to an experiment in finding myself on the outside of this water in which i have been  swimming…hoping to bring awareness to it, potentially getting to know it/me from a different angle…

thankful for time (and inspiration) to create…

i have had a bit of time to create lately (mostly because i have made the time:)…and it certainly does require that…

intention and courage are themes that i am attempting to nurture these days, with the real recognition that our days are finite…so why not…especially when it is so fun?!

so i am officially launching my card/paper making venture…with hopes to ask a few friends/relatives with gift/flower/eclectic shops if i can start with them…try my hand at this whole crafting business…

we shall see how it unfolds…

on a totally different note…i just put jeremiah to bed and he asked me “what’s the coolest thing in  the world” and i replied: “i think everyone has a different opinion on that, what do you think?” and he replied:”i think coloring… to which i said “coloring is definitely very cool’ and he added “or actually love and life”…(which i completely agreed)…
