welcome fear
if it arrives
make it at home
re-assure it
allow it to rest
in the peace that comes with trust
it is tired of the fight
that is it’s existance
ask it what it has to teach you today
about holding too tightly
about this needing to know
about peace

birth as metaphor for life
welcoming contraction
as an inevitable companion
facilitating opening if not resisted
as this living life that is alive is constantly birthing and being birthed
unfolding and folding in
when fear finds footing
room for expansion evaporates
and the discomfort of contraction arrests development
in being with the discomfort
greater opening emerges
the laboring offers a glimpse of the potential to be birthed into new life
in each moment

what an elaborate collaboration
of hoops
fear has created
minds to maneuver
instead let rest come
in the truth of god’s all knowing all being hope
what a wonder
a cruelty
if this were all a big game of guesses
which light is good?
which light is of the “darkness”?
or could it be that order is bigger, more inclusive, less divided?
could it be that we are all welcome and welcoming?
none turned away…
let go of your corner to behold the beauty of the intricately woven fabric
in all its textures
as no one has a corner on the god market
behold
the divinity resides within each of us

What does the voice of fear
whisper to you?
Fear speaks to you
in logic and reason.
It assumes the language
of love itself.
Fear tells you,
“I want to make you safe.”
Love says,
“You are safe.”
Emmanuel from his book: Emmanuel’s Book II
(this picture kills me…she is belly laughing in response to big brother’s lovin’)

cultivating space
to notice
to sit
without judgement
to smile at the “imperfection”
noticing the texture it adds
welcoming breathe
graciously encountering contraction
noticing how it opens
and allows for the birthing of new potential

this notion of failure
and the fear of it
binds
creating stagnation
motionlessness
what if…
what if there is no such thing
even more so when ones life is lived for the good of the world
what if any move that is made toward serving the world
is victory
each step forward a gift
even if full fruit is not born
there is no lesser action than inaction
in the act of not acting is where this notion of “failure” is is most likely found
so risk may be the only option
and what if…
instead of constructing a framework of “risk”
we may see each step as a beautiful and wild adventure

good
poetry
makes the universe admit
a secret
i am
really just a tamborine
grab hold
play me
against your warm thigh

here is my love fly fishing in the snake river in idaho…
in the valley that still holds a bit of our hearts.

Now is the time to know
That all that you do is sacred.
Now, why not consider
A lasting truce with yourself and God.
Now is the time to understand
That all your ideas of right and wrong
Were just a child’s training wheels
To be laid aside
When you finally live
With veracity
And love.
Hafiz is a divine envoy
Whom the Beloved
Has written a holy message upon.
My dear, please tell me,
Why do you still
Throw sticks at your heart
And God?
What is it in that sweet voice inside
That incites you to fear?
Now is the time for the world to know
That every thought and action is sacred.
This is the time for you to compute the impossibility
That there is anything
But Grace.

The Guest House
This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
As an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.
